Missing piece

Everything was going great in the filming process until we got to the last bit. We weren't sure how to end it. We had to end it in a way that would keep the audience intrigued and make them want to go and watch the movie. We didn't know what to do. Eventually we thought hard about it and we found out what we needed to do. I don't want to give it away but it was a good way to keep the viewer wanting more.

Lights, Camera, Action

Today we began filming our movie and it seems like everything was going great. We all met up at Klaus' house and shot in his garage. Nico did a great job acting as the person who was trapped. We also had tons of fun shooting this. We had to shot from lots of different angles to make sure you could get the right atmosphere. We didn't want people to know that we were in a garage.

Bumps in the filming process

We have had a couple issues on scheduling to film our project. We were planning on filming this weekend up our partner Jose was at the music festival called Ultra. So filming this weekend wasn't going to work out that well. Then I am not available to film Monday because I have to take my mother to the airport. That has taken up a bit of our time but it wont be a big issue. We have a good amount amount of time left and if we work diligently we will get everything done with no problem.

Actors

After searching for different actors to help us with our filming process we have finally found who we will be using. For the person locked up it will be played by our partner Nicolas Yanez. I will be playing the part of the scientist that is the one who has the prisoner locked up. We came to this conclusion because finding other actors will be more difficult then just us being the actors. It is more effective this way.

First day of filming

We have finally come to  a conclusion of what days we are going to film. We have had a tough time finding and coordinating with our partners for what day they are available to film. Finally we came to a conclusion that Tuesday we will be filming at 10 am at our partner Klaus' house. Jose will bring his camera equipment and we will be ready.

Idea

The film we are trying to create is a suspense film that keeps the viewer on edge. We are going to start off with our main actor tied up to a chair in a empty room. There is nothing in the room except for him and a table in front of him with test tubes and tools used for building. The actor somehow gets lose and gets out of the empty chair and walks out of the room into a very bright hallway that seems to be like a laboratory. He sees a bunch of scientists and hides behind a table, he turns around for a second and knocks over a test tube and it shatters. All the scientists look over and it ends.

This is what we are planning on so far but there can be lots of changes along the way.

Things needed to help us film

for the beginning
  • an actor
  • a chair with rope tied
  • a flat table
  • test tubes and tools used for building
  • an empty room with dim lighting
the lab

  • we will need test tubes
  • a couple of supporting actors
  • lab coats
  • more tables
  • lab equipment

The potential location

At this moment in our filming production we our discussing exactly where it should be filmed. Our main place we are thinking of filming is at our partner Jose's dads warehouse. We think this is the ideal place for us to record because it is the right size. It is also very easy to fix and remodel the room to make it exactly how we need it. We would also need to make the room look like a science lab.

Storyboard

Here is our storyboard of how we are thinking of shooting our film. It gives you a little preview of what you will be seeing later. It gives you ideas of how certain shots will be seen and what techniques will be used.

Suspense

Suspense is the genre we have chosen for our film opening. We have chosen it for a couple of reasons. It might not be the top grossing film but it is in the top five. We have chosen it because of the feeling it gives the audience while they are watching the film. No other genre gives that feeling of tension and uncertainty that keeps you urging for more. That is exactly what we want our viewers to experience. In my opinion this feeling is amazing it feels like you are actually part of the film. If you have ever seen a suspenseful movie and the character is about to go into a dark room where you know something bad is about to happen , you cant help but talk to him and tell him not to go in as if you are actually part of the movie and he can hear you. This is the great part of a suspense film.

2 min Film opening

We must create a two minute film opening that we attract our audience. Every big Hollywood movie has a two minute film opening that is what brings in the viewer and makes him want to watch this movie. We have to keep the viewer intrigued and keep him hooked onto what we are doing.

Here is an example from the movie Inception.

Keeping it Suspenseful

After a lot of talking with my group we have decided that suspense is the way to go. We thought about how people want to feel when watching a movie. From personal experience I love the feeling of not knowing what is about to happen it keeps me strapped into my chair. This is exactly what we would want our audience to feel when they are watching our film. We want them to be excited when they go in and have a thrill ride. The feeling when you are about to go on a really big roller coaster for the first time and you are filled with jitters and you are about to jump out of your seat. That is the feeling we want for our viewers.

The Beginning of our Journey

I have been assigned to do film opening for a movie I must create with my group from scratch. We are all looking at what genre our film should be. I truly love watching movies but never thought I would have the chance to make my own. My group and I have been looking into what movies people enjoy watching the most so we can get an idea of what to create. I will keep you guys updated on every step of this journey.
